Healthcare Internship Program Philosophy

02

International Medical Aid (IMA) is a non-profit organization that provides Healthcare Internships for undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and professionals in underserved communities worldwide. Our mission is to provide healthcare services to these communities while allowing our participants to gain valuable experience in a global healthcare setting. Our programs focus on medical disciplines such as medicine, nursing, mental health, public health, and physical therapy. Our approach to care is ethically grounded, and we believe that providing healthcare services is just the first step towards improving the well-being of underserved communities. We collaborate with local leaders to create sustainable community-driven projects that address the underlying causes of disease and illness, such as access to clean water, sanitation, and education.

At IMA, we believe that our interns and volunteers should have a meaningful and rewarding experience. In addition to providing valuable clinical experience, we offer cultural immersion activities such as language classes, local tours, and cooking classes. We also offer adventure excursions to allow our participants to experience the natural beauty of our program locations while having fun and connecting with other participants.

Our programs are designed to provide participants with a structured and supportive environment. We ensure that our interns and volunteers receive comprehensive training on safety and infection control procedures before their departure, and we provide them with local and US-based support throughout their entire experience. Our goal is to provide our participants with a secure and mutually beneficial experience that allows them to make a significant impact on the communities they serve.
