Physical Therapy interns will collaborate with experienced physical therapists in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers worldwide. They will assist in patient assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions for various conditions. Interns will also observe and participate in physical therapy sessions.

This program, developed in partnership with leading physical therapy schools, combines practical experience with educational modules. Interns will deepen their understanding of physical therapy practices, enhance their clinical skills, and gain exposure to global health challenges related to rehabilitation. The program is customized to meet the specific needs and goals of each intern, fostering both personal and professional growth.

International Medical Aid, a non-profit organization established at Johns Hopkins University, offers Physical Therapy Internships abroad for undergraduate students, graduate students, and licensed practitioners in high-demand areas such as East Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. By delivering vital healthcare assistance to communities in these regions, we enable participants to gain significant exposure to diverse specialties through our Physical Therapy Internships and study abroad programs. Our programs also allow interns and volunteers to experience our destinations’ stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures through exclusive adventure activities led by knowledgeable and trustworthy tour guides. Orthopedic Physical Therapy

The Orthopedic Physical Therapy internship specializes in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, post‐surgical recovery, and injury prevention. Interns work in clinical settings where they learn manual techniques, therapeutic exercise design, and patient education. Through hands‐on practice, clinical rounds, and expert mentorship, they build a strong foundation in orthopedic rehabilitation.

Neurological Physical Therapy

Our Neurological Physical Therapy specialty focuses on conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. Interns engage in motor recovery techniques, balance retraining, and cognitive rehabilitation under clinical supervision. To be considered for the Nutritionist/Dietetics Internship program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Actively Pursuing a Career in Healthcare
  • Written Responses to Application Questions 
  • Unofficial Academic Transcripts
  • Current Resume

  • Two Years of Spanish Language Experience (Only Programs in South America) 
  • Programs Open To Citizens of All Countries
