Midwifery Internships

International Medical Aid (IMA) presents unique Midwifery Internships for pre-midwifery students, graduate midwifery students, and licensed midwives/nurse-midwives, allowing them to work in bustling international healthcare environments under the guidance of our exceptional team of devoted midwives, nurses, physicians, PAs, and other healthcare experts. We partner with a vast public and private healthcare facility network, enabling our interns and volunteers to apply their skills to enhance community health while gaining practical experience. IMA is committed to improving the well-being of underserved populations in the regions we serve through medical clinics, public health education programs, first responder training, and first aid initiatives. Midwifery interns will collaborate with experienced midwives and obstetricians in hospitals and birthing centers worldwide. They will assist in prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care for mothers and infants. Interns will also observe and participate in patient education and community health programs.

This program, developed in collaboration with top midwifery programs, combines hands-on clinical experience with educational modules. Interns will deepen their understanding of midwifery practices, enhance their clinical skills, and gain exposure to global maternal and child health issues. The program is customized to meet each intern’s specific needs and goals, fostering personal and professional growth.

International Medical Aid, a non-profit organization founded at Johns Hopkins University, offers Midwifery Internships in high-need regions such as East Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. By delivering essential healthcare services to underserved communities in these regions, we offer participants the chance to gain invaluable exposure to different specialties through our Midwifery Internships and study abroad programs. Our programs allow interns and volunteers to explore our destinations’ stunning landscapes and rich cultures through exclusive adventure excursions led by knowledgeable and reliable tour guides. Internship Placements

IMA partners with a variety of public and private healthcare facilities to offer diverse and rewarding internship placements for our Midwifery interns. Depending on your specific interests and skills, you may have the opportunity to work in settings such as:

Hospitals

 Work alongside experienced midwives and obstetricians to provide prenatal care, manage labor and delivery, and address postpartum issues.

Clinics

Assist in outpatient settings where you will support women through all stages of pregnancy, conduct routine examinations, and provide education on maternal health.

Community Health Programs

Participate in community outreach initiatives aimed at improving maternal and neonatal health for underserved populations. This includes conducting health screenings, educational workshops, and vaccination drives.

Specialized Centers

Depending on your interests and the needs of the host community, you may also work in centers specializing in areas such as high-risk pregnancies, neonatal care, or family planning.
