Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced physicians and healthcare professionals in hospitals and clinics in various countries around the world. They will gain first-hand clinical experience in a wide range of medical specialties, including but not limited to internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, dermatology, and oncology. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to observe medical procedures and surgeries and participate in patient rounds.
The program was developed at Johns Hopkins University and is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for interns. It combines hands-on clinical experience with classroom instruction, allowing interns to gain a deep understanding of medical theory and practice. The program is customized to meet the unique needs and goals of each intern, and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Our partnership with universities and pre-health advisors allows us to further enrich the students’ academic and professional journeys. This collaboration brings unique benefits to the table:
Hands-On, Immersive Experience
Our programs take students beyond the confines of their classrooms and into the heart of healthcare settings in different parts of the world. This gives them a broader perspective of healthcare systems and practices, honing their adaptability and versatility – traits that are highly valued in the dynamic field of healthcare.
Development of Practical Clinical and Research Skills
Theoretical knowledge forms the foundation of healthcare education, but practical skills translate this knowledge into action. Our programs give students the chance to develop and refine these skills in a real-world context, augmenting their confidence and competence.
Expansion of Global Health Perspectives and Cultural Competence
From pre-departure preparation to in-country assistance, our dedicated team supports Healthcare and Pre-Health interns every step of the way. We prioritize your safety, comfort, and well-being throughout your internship.
Opportunities for Networking and Professional Development
Our programs serve as platforms for students to connect with seasoned professionals and like-minded peers. This networking can open doors to future opportunities and collaborations, propelling students’ professional development.
Personal Growth and Increased Adaptability
Immersing themselves in unfamiliar settings, students not only gain academic and professional growth but also personal growth. They develop resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, becoming well-rounded individuals capable of thriving in any environment.
International Medical Aid highly values its collaboration with universities and pre-health advisors. This partnership not only enhances the richness of our programs but also provides universities with additional opportunities to expand their educational offerings. Our collaborative initiatives include:
Research Projects
Preparation is essential for ensuring safety and security, particularly in an international setting. This is why we implement thorough pre-program preparations to provide participants with the knowledge and tools needed to handle potential health and safety challenges. This initial phase includes various activities designed to deepen participants’ understanding of their host environment and minimize potential risks.
Joint Programs And Events
International Medical Aid works closely with universities and pre-health advisors to develop and implement joint programs, workshops, and events tailored to meet the specific needs of students and institutions. These collaborative initiatives provide additional educational opportunities for students, such as specialized training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
They foster a sense of community and create platforms for knowledge exchange, allowing students to gain insights from experts and peers in their field of interest.
By collaborating with Medical Aid, universities and pre-health advisors can extend their educational offerings beyond the classroom. The partnership provides students with access to unique experiential learning opportunities that enhance their academic journeys and prepare them for successful careers in healthcare.
