Preparing for medical school means keeping track of much more than your next exam. Clinical experience, community service, research, shadowing, coursework, and application tasks can end up scattered across spreadsheets, calendars, and notes. When you want to see where you stand, finding the information can become a project of its own.
Pre-Med Coach by International Medical Aid is a free planning tool that brings your profile, experience hours, tasks, and next steps together. You can use it on the web or connect it in ChatGPT to work with your saved plan through conversation.

What is Pre-Med Coach?
Pre-Med Coach helps pre-med and other pre-health students organize the information they use to plan their next steps. It is operated by International Medical Aid Foundation and is designed to keep your planning records connected to your account, so you can return to them as your experience and priorities change.
You can save details such as your year in school, intended entry year, GPA, science GPA, and MCAT score or planned test date. Experience entries and tasks sit alongside that profile, giving you a place to review what you have recorded and what you want to do next.
Keep your experience hours and notes together
An experience log is most useful when you update it while the details are still fresh. Pre-Med Coach lets you record experience titles, categories, hours, dates, and notes. You can organize clinical experience, shadowing, service, research, and other activities without rebuilding your records every time you review your plan.
For example, after a volunteer shift, record the hours you completed and a brief note about your responsibilities or what you learned. Over time, those entries give you a clearer record to consult when discussing your progress with an advisor or preparing your application materials.
The hours are self-reported. Pre-Med Coach organizes your records but does not independently verify them. Keep any documentation your school or program requires, and leave patient names and other private information out of your notes.
Turn application preparation into specific tasks
A broad goal such as preparing for medical school can be difficult to act on. A saved task can be much more concrete: review a prerequisite, request a meeting with an advisor, update your experience log, or set aside time to work on your personal statement.
Pre-Med Coach keeps those tasks with your profile and experience records. Its dashboard brings together your saved information, hours by category, next priorities, and upcoming MCAT dates. That makes it easier to return to your plan and decide what needs attention.
Date information is curated rather than a live feed. Confirm test dates, registration details, application deadlines, and school-specific requirements with the relevant official source before making a decision.
Use GPA and MCAT calculations in context
Pre-Med Coach includes tools for calculating credit-weighted overall and science GPA from the courses you enter. It can also add your four scaled MCAT section scores and show the corresponding total-score percentile from published AAMC tables.
These calculations help you organize academic information for planning. Course classifications still need review, and an MCAT percentile is not a prediction of admission. If you need a separate GPA worksheet, IMA also offers a medical school GPA calculator.
Work with your plan on the web or in ChatGPT
On the web, visit coach.medicalaid.org, enter your email address, and use the six-digit code sent to your inbox. You do not need to create a password.
To use the ChatGPT connection, connect Pre-Med Coach in ChatGPT and sign in with the same email address. You can then ask it to show your dashboard or work with the planning information you have saved.
Examples of requests you can make include:
- Show my pre-med dashboard.
- Log four hours of community service from Saturday.
- Add a task to review my prerequisite courses.
- Help me review the next steps in my pre-med plan.
Review the details when adding information so your records reflect what you actually completed or intend to do. You can edit or delete entries and tasks as your plans change.
Explore experience options as part of your plan
Pre-Med Coach can help you explore clinical experience, shadowing, community service, and IMA program options. This is planning guidance rather than a live vacancy service. Consider the responsibilities, supervision, eligibility requirements, time commitment, and costs of any opportunity before applying.
International Medical Aid also offers pre-med internships abroad and medical school admissions consulting. These are separate services with their own application processes and fees. Using the free planning tool does not enroll you in a program.
A practical way to get started
- Create your plan. Sign in with your email and add the profile details you know.
- Record your current experience. Add activities and hours you can account for, with useful dates and notes.
- Choose your next tasks. Start with a few specific actions you can complete and review.
- Return as you make progress. Update your records after an activity, an academic change, or an advising conversation.
You do not need a complete application to start keeping useful records. Begin with accurate information, fill in gaps as you learn more, and use the plan to make your next conversation with an advisor more focused.
